A Wedge

[UPDATE:  The last sentence of this post was probably more vague than it needed to be.  Have updated it to say the next step would be more/less accurately described as "learning to breathe" underwater.  That both encompasses the original verbiage and makes the analogy intended.  Original post 02/02/2021 03:36 AM]

This wedge takes the form of a self-hypnotic trance.

It's also a wedge to drive between the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind.  But only a little.

What's it good for?  To tilt the balance a little towards the unconscious part of the mind when that's needed.  Or maybe it's towards the conscious part.  But don't worry about that now.

If you want to know why someone might want that... do you live in St. Louis or Kansas City?

Then yes, you have possible reason to need those options.

Should you already be familiar with a trance state then please enter one.  Right now.  It should only take a few seconds.

Are you in a trance state now?  Perfect.  You can skip this blog post.

Otherwise... these are the laziest instructions I could think of.  Because of this you'll probably need weeks before finding it easy to enter a trance state.  Why the slow lazy pace?  Because good control over this is more important than learning it quickly should you find yourself somewhere that subliminal messages (suggestions) are being used to break someone down mentally.

Also, if you're determined enough to stick with this for a couple weeks you might not need much additional help.  You might not want to go any further either when you find out the next step.

Oh and yes, it's possible to get stuck in a trance state (you've probably heard otherwise).  How do I know?  Don't ask.

Yes, I know how it happened.  Yes, I could tell you how to get stuck in one too but that would be really stupid.

I'm not advocating one method over another.  So here are links to a few sites that explain how to do it.  If you like one and it works - great.  If you want to try this one - cool.  Just remember you didn't hear it from me.

Seriously though, I had trouble finding the actual instructions in 2 of those links.

Instructions to Slowly Learn to Enter a Trance State

  1. Each day when you wake up try the following (the only thing you need to put effort into is focusing your awareness):
    • While standing or sitting, let your dominant hand hang down to your side.
    • It doesn't matter if you wake up tense or stressed.
    • Relax, take a breath.
    • Turn your hand palm down parallel to the floor and move it forward and out slightly to the right keeping the motion and angle as comfortable as possible.
    • As you move your hand out, tighten the muscles in your hand and arm as you focus awareness on it.
    • When your arm is at a 45 degree angle from your body, hold it steady and focus more awareness on it.
    • As you do that visualize your hand becoming 2 identical overlapping hands that separate with one moving to the left and one moving to the right.
    • You should then be seeing your hand while visualizing 2 other hands.
    • At the moment your 1 hand turned into 3 you should begin entering a trance state.
    • To deepen it focus more awareness on your hand and visualize it becoming 3 with movement again.
  2. Each night when you're comfortable in bed ready to fall asleep:
    • Lay flat and begin by tightening the muscles in your hands while focusing awareness on them.
    • Relax your hands while maintaining awareness.
    • Do the same with your:
      • Arms
      • Shoulders
      • Neck
      • Legs
      • Feet
    • Repeat if you want for practice.
    • Go to sleep.
What should happen?  At some point you'll get up and try the same steps and find yourself in a trance state - just like that.  We're delegating the heavy lifting to the specialist on these things.
If you're comfortable entering trance then the next step is analogous to learning how to breathe underwater.
